Dr. Yong Zhao is a distinguished professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education at Michigan State University’s College of Education. He is the founding director of the university’s Center for Teaching and Technology, as well as director of the US-China Center for Research on Educational Excellence.

Zhao’s research and writing interests include diffusion of innovations; teacher technology use; computer-assisted language learning; globalization and education; and international and comparative education. His global experience is extensive. He has consulted with government and educational agencies and spoken on educational issues in many countries, including Chile, China, Ireland, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Zhao currently leads the Education Research Group of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Education Network. His current work focuses on the impact of globalization on education and the integration of Eastern and Western educational practices.
