This track is designed for those who want to learn more about school improvement and accountability issues. All sessions will be held in room C 111.

Marion City
began sponsoring Rushmore Academy, a dropout recovery community conversion school, in 2009. Learn about the school's growth, future goals, staffing challenges, scheduling, home-school relationships and how learning is delivered.

Creating a sustainable high school reform model

Battelle for Kids' Ohio Value-Added High Schools provides 44 schools value-added data from teacher reports and exams. Learn how Columbus City, Franklin Local (Muskingum) and Plain Local (Stark) helped students gain 21st century skills through a more rigorous curriculum and professional development.

Student data mapping - from reactive to proactive

Teachers are not data analysts, nor should they have to be. The piles of disconnected student data, gathered from thousands of tests, some of which cost thousands of dollars, are meaningless to the teacher-student relationship. Learn how Goshen Local (Clemont) created an environment of total data ownership and transparency for an entire district, did away with days and days of tedious OAA and OGT data translation, and started making truly data-driven curricular decisions.

Increasing success in rigorous coursework

In 2009, the Advanced Placement program served 44,630 Ohio students through college-level courses and exams. Columbus City and College Board representatives share strategies to build AP access and success, as well as best practices for increasing achievement and rigor in Ohio schools.
