Mallory Holtman and Sara Tucholsky
Founders of the Sportsmanship Defined Foundation
Tuesday, Nov. 9, 12:15 p.m.

The Mallory Holtman & Sara Tucholsky Sportsmanship Defined Foundation was created after a home run and a torn knee ligament brought the women together on a college softball field in 2008. That twist of fate sparked an amazing display of sportsmanship and inspired Holtman and Tucholsky to create a nonprofit foundation to help those in need.

On that day, Holtman and Tucholsky were on opposing teams when Tucholsky hit the first home run of her career. When she hurt her knee and was unable to run after crossing first base, Holtman and a teammate carried her around to home plate. That stellar show of sportsmanship brought them widespread media attention, enabling them to parlay their fame into a way to motivate others with their spirit and caring.
